Researcher Summary

I am currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Geography in the GeoHealth Laboratory. In this post, I am building on my work on material and social deprivation in southwestern Uganda, resulting from changing land use policies. I am currently evaluating aspects of resilience in New Zealand communities. Specifically, I am investigating places that experience the paradox of poor social and environmental conditions yet good health outcomes. I am evaluating the role and limitations of both environmental and social deprivation in shaping health. In the final stages of my research project, I aim to unearth novel characteristics of communities which lead to positive health outcomes in the face of adversity.

Subject Area: Disciplines

Key Methodologies

  • Development and testing of indices, regression analyses, spatial analyses, survey data, semi-structured interviews, oral histories, anthropometrics
