UC Mathematics and Statistics High Achievers Award


This scholarship recognises and supports high-achieving students at the University of Canterbury who are entering their first year of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree programme and majoring in Mathematics or Statistics. Five scholarships are available, one of which is reserved for a Maori or Pasifika student.

The online application system will begin accepting applications eight weeks before the closing date.

Applicants must have completed, or be completing, a university entrance qualification and have studied at secondary level in New Zealand in the year of application (or, in the case of a gap year, in the year immediately prior). International students who meet these requirements are eligible to apply.

Applicants must intend to:
a. enrol full-time in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree programme at the University; and
i. major in Mathematics and enrol in a specified 100-level Mathematics course; or
ii. major in Statistics and enrol in a specified 100-level 1 Statistics course.
Recipients who gain direct entry into Year 2 of a BSc or BA degree programme will be exempt from enrolling in the specified courses.
